Tamarind House was built in 1979, Tamarind House sits on over an acre of land that is nestled above the hillside along the road to Anse Chastenet, above the town of Soufriere. Covering 8,850 SF of space, it is constructed of local stone with high greenheart ceilings and Barbados tile floors throughout. A circular courtyard filled with banana plants and flowers pulls you in and brings you straight to the arched doorway that leads to the expansive 2,550 SF living space. There is a terrace where the tamarind tree grows up out of the tiles and provides shade and coolness to the house all through the day. Throughout the house is uninterrupted views of the World Famous Pitons and the Caribbean Sea.
The main house has three bedrooms and there is a separate lodge situated near the entrance. The lodge measures 424 SF and has a bedroom, kitchenette, bathrooms and a patio. The Master bedroom, measuring 640 SF, is housed separately in a cottage and consists of a living room, kitchenette, dressing area, walk-in closet, Italian tiled marble bathroom with tub/shower, king size four poster bed and terrace. The Piton view from the bed is framed by bougainvillea climbing up the stone walls. Across the lodge at the entrance is another room which serves as an Artist’s Studio/Workshop and generator house.
There is a 19,000 gallon pool which was redone in 2019 and just beyond is a professional sized tennis court. Under the tennis court are five 1000 gallon water tanks. Currently, Tamarind House is used as a holiday villa rental home, and serves as a great home investment property.
